Counting My Blessings

2009 blessed me with:

a.) Another year of artshows and networking with more affluent and gifted people which includes:

      - Beatrock the flagship store for Beatrock Clothing which quickly became a place for music, live performances, workshops, and artshows in the Long Beach area

      - Fresthetics in NY, a gallery/shop in New York in which co-partner and co-owner, Randy Quiles invited me to be part of their annual Love and Bullets artshow
      - Rebekka Utermohlen (POPNZ) of Cannibal Flower and her curated show with The Lab for the Black Sugar Market show in Costa Mesa
      - Showed work with an awesome art collective in the Fullerton and Long Beach areas called United C.A.T. in a gallery in Downtown Long Beach as well as urban vinyl toy culture shop, Chuckwa in Fullerton
-Live painted at Constant Elevation, a collaborative event by Assembly Line Artists and Chinky-Eyed Production.

      - curated and showed work at independant boutique in Chinatown LA called "Honey Munnys vs the Russian Mafia Dolls"
     - Live painted at the summer's HUGEST block party in 2009, the Funk Rumble

     - Blessed to be part of Tuesday Night Cafe's huge benefit event called The Party at the JACCC
      - was able to work at Comic Con 2009 in the BlackLava booth

      - Blessed to part of J.U.I.C.E's benefit party, FINALLY working with an organization who I have have been keeping track of and loving the work that they do for the community.

-Being blessed to be part of KMB's 10th Anniversary show at SIPA

b.) 2009 blessed my friends Moonie and Lovella with Baby Riley, who when being held, makes hair look fabulous.

c.)Took a road trip on a new 2009 convertible Mustang to the Bay, where we visited Yountville, CA- home of Thomas Keller's restaurants

d.)Went to Kauai, Hawai'i to witness my long time friend Miko get married and join a beautiful family

e.) After 10 years, finally re-visiting Disneyland and seeing it in a whole new perspective thanks to these two kids

f.) After 10 years, finally seeing my nieces and nephews when they were in LA for a modeling convention

g.) Another year of fairly good health. No set-backs. No injuries. I am thankful for the body and health i possess now and promise to make it better for the upcoming year.

h.) Reconnecting with old friends and nurturing present ones as well as being open to making new friends along the way. Very blessed to have certain key people in my life act as instruments of Divine messages. I do listen, friends. and i am glad to have you all in my corner.

i.)2009 also brought me an experience in which i was honored to love in a level i didn't think i would be able to and look forward to the day when i can feel that way again and be able to express it freely and it will be recieved readily.

j.) blessed to have a job that supports my endeavors as well as provide me the benefits to help me with my well-being. i will never take advantage of the peace of mind my day job has provided for me.

k.) 2009 has given me the realization that it is time to get in touch with my family and to strengthen my bonds. it also brought me the realization that blood doesn't define family as i extend my circle in the realm of spirit family members- those who provide me that unconditional love and support and who i can turn to when i'm in need.

l.) 2009 brought me back into the stage twice. not as much as previous years but these performances were important gigs. i fell in love with word again. Melinda and i were blessed to be part of the KCET Asian American Awards Show and the Pacific Asia Museum's "Weaving" showcases.

to be continued.

---------
as i create this list, i realize now that 2009 isn't so bad. yes, i was heartbroken. yes, i was hurt and tired and burnt out. and yes, i lost trust in things including my own vision. and i can't spend my energy in looking at that any more. i can't always bring light to the negative. i must allow my blessings to shine in the spot light.

ok.... i'm good.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

A beautiful list and can't wait to see what else you accomplished this year. And can only imagine what is in store for you in 2010.
