it's off to the bay.... AGAIN

it's official, folks. i am worn down. not beaten. just worn down.

last week, kat, vanessa, alison, and i went up to the bay to perform at the bindlestiff studio's reunion show. the stiff is the bay's epicenter of emerging and progressive fil-am arts. its a very nurturing art space and many of today's fil-am artists have had their start there. it's closing down but will be re-emerging in another space so that they will continue to provide the community with fine programming and basically, a space where we can call our own.

it was kat's and my first time there and it was such an honor to have our first visit be our first time performing there. it was all love. the bay area folks gave us nothing but love and hospitality. even the spirits are welcoming. yes, there are spirits in there.

so coming back home, my car decides to die... i mean really keel over and die. apparently the mechanic didn't align the gears right and it totally screwed up the engine. one component failed, then another , then another. it was like cancer.

a $1,400 car cancer

but you know, as stressed as i am, i am still blessed. things could have hella went bad, worse than actually turned out. we could have gotten hurt. we could have been stuck in the bay bridge. we could have been stuck in the middle of I-5 in the middle of the night.

i have more blessings in my life than hardships... waaaaaaay more. praise be to god. all praise due to the most high.

and i want to thank kat, vanessa, and alison for keeping me centered, for taking the baton when i seriously needed time to check out and just breathe. thank you liv for opening up your house to us. infinite. and thank you e., for allowing us to express our writings on stage.

so yea, off to the bay again. there is a reason for all this. i know this. and they all come from little voices chanting out "auntie alfie! auntie alfie!"... yup, its time for me to get healing from the little ones.
