I got my pictures from Lomography last night. I forgot about the anticipation and excitement connected to waiting for the development of a whole roll of film.

I also forgot about the disappointment when what you see is subpar than what you were expecting.

One of the lessons that I have learned is that digital photography is VERY FORGIVING. Maybe even too pristine of a picture. I love shooting with toy and pinhole cameras. Something about getting to know your subject, the composition, the way light works, and being at it's beckoned call.

Out of a roll of 24, only 4-5 shots are even worth looking at. I gotta let go of the need to be perfect and embrace all the subtle beauty within the blur of the shot. I am reminded of being patient, about being fast on my feet, about diving in a shot, and about keeping my hand steady.

I also gotta trust in my self and trust my eye. I have been hesitant in making shots because I wanted to not waste any shot. But it's at the point where I also don't engage. And that is the whole point of making art or writing or creating anything- you HAVE to engage.

Yeah there is definitely real skill involved with photography and digital doesn’t teach the discipline required to be great with film. Keep working at it Alfie your persistence will pay off.
