saturday: nommo
for four years, i have been involved with an open mic called nommo. nommo is a west african word meaning "the power of word". for the past two years, i have been co-hosting and co-producing with my friend ish. that night nommo, despite of it being the night before halloween, was pretty magical. i get a kick when people are "moved" to do a piece, when they didn't plan on sharing one. fuck it, i am a big supporter of people sharing new work. bring your napkins, your journals, your post-its with new work.

sunday:halloween
i don't normally dress up for halloween. this year is no exception. earlier, i went to go see "dogeaters" with aleks. i highly recommend it. jessica hagedorn is one of my favorite writers and i love what she did for the play. if you have a chance, go see i. kennedy is in it too.

afterwards, i met up with friends to check out the halloween block party in west hollywood. i have heard the rumors, the glory of it and i was intrigued.
