Any advice for the aspiring Poet?

i think the most important is to LIVE life. there are often reoccuring themes in poetry (or in any art form for that matter) that the only thing that makes it unique in the storytelling is the artist's/poet's experience. what helps me as a listener or the reader is to sense the poet's honesty on stage or on the page. in the same sense, a poet/writer should also learn to listen/read other works as well not to emulate or be inspired but being creative is cyclical; what you put out should also flow back in with other people's expressions.
