lawdy lawdy lawdy
it is almost time. the artists are coming in tomorrow. paintings and sculptures will be installed. the vendor shall do their thing and sell sell sell. today, ryan and i setted up the tables, the stage, and i am left with finishing up the last minute details before the ((( ta ta TA DUUUUMMM))), the book release event starts.
every obstacle had popped up this weekend that made this journey with slight turbulence- late call backs, late confirmation from artists, lack of funds, yadda yadda yadda. but at this point, i am not going to focus on what can't happen but what will happen and that we are going to have a wonderful show!
i have worked with people with the best energy and motivation any producer asks for- paula- always down and ready to do anything (AND she is going to south america for the next few weeks the morning after the show!),ryan- never seeing the stress and refuses to let me see as well, troy- fellow graphic designer that has that eye for marketing. makes everything we do look like we hired a publicity team. kat- we work so well together. whatever i needed, she is there. vanessa- i learn from the best! ms. literary curator herself telling me to forget about the title of producer and just keep doing what i am doing. and lastly joel, man with the vision who believes in me and my capabilities.
wen says what i do is nothing new. he says i made magic happen before but this is my first huuuuuge event. a book release event that doubles as a , with vendors, an art exhibit, tattoo demonstration, performance art with headliners in the community... whoa.. (( remember to breathe)))
i am excited... i am also nervous. (( breathing)))
i am just so happy to be part of this whole event. i have a feeling i will actually miss it being involved with that event. but i know there are tons more heading my way.
and after the monster show, stay tuned for nommo, a 90.7 fm kpfk show i shall be helping wendal with on post-ethnic activism, and an art exhibit kkarma and i are collaborating on. not to mention a new job up ahead and a new outlook on love.(yes, boys and girls, alfie maybe open to settling down.)
ok, one thing at a time... my venting session is now over... onward with the show.

and so it begins...
last week was my last week at AC. i have this whole week off before i start at euniverse which is awesome because i can work on the monster debut and among other work contracted to me. apparently, my new job couldn't wait for me to start; they contracted me work yesterday in which i frantically tried to finish a mock one page website for one of their potential products. it was cool working at home. but what was not cool was that i was working on a dial up so every thing ran soooo slooooooow. i never upgraded because i figured that i was always on a t-3 connection 40 hours a week. why should i want to spend too much time on the internet at home? welll, that is gonna have to change because if i continue to do freelance work on my off time, i need to get a faster connection. yes, people, i shall get out of the dark ages soon.
so , for the rest of the week, i will play rich house wife... only, with out the husband... and with out the riches. in between working at home, i shall go to the movies, read books, write pieces, paint, go to the gym, baby my doggie, and pamper my physical being as well as my spiritual being. i shall take yoga, dance, step class, counteract it with going to that yummy bakery on la brea, shop for new puma shoes, get a manicure/pedicure while sipping soy lattes- all during the day while 9 to 5 america is at work. i shall pretend what it is like to NOT work and i got till next week to figure out what that means.
today, i am going to watch rabbit proof fence. i love independant and foriegn flicks. lots of indies cant rely on big money to carry their film so they have to rely on the storytelling, dialogue, and acting to make it successful. case in point, look at kevin smith. ok, i am off to have fun... hopefully... if i dont have the thoughts of work plaguing my mind...
